IQAC(Internal Quality Assurance Cell)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is a cell that is formulated to monitor the quality parameters for a significant and meaningful contribution in the post accreditation phase of the institution.

Functions expected of the IQAC are;

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters in various activities of the Institution.
  • Dissemination of information on quality aspects.
  • Organization of discussions, workshops, seminars and promotion of quality circles.
  • Recording and monitoring quality measures of the Institution.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for quality-related activities.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other reports as may be decided from time to time.

IQAC REPORT 2019-2020

To make quality the defining value of education, all the departments in association with the IQAC organized Seminars/ Workshops/ Guest Lectures and Webinars to keep the faculty and students in tune with the changing facets of education and be abreast of the latest trends and developments in their respective subjects.

Given below are a gist of the .workshops, seminars, guest lectures and webinars organized.

  • The Dept.of English organized a webinar on the 30th of June 2020 on 'How to be an Ace Communicator'. The Resource speaker was Ms. Aparna Athreya, Founder, Story Triangle & Kid and Parent Foundation.
  • The Dept. of Computer Applications organized a Guest Lecture on 'Soft Skills & PD on 15th October 2019. Mr. Richard & Ms. Usha from Net Craft were the resource speakers.
  • A workshop on 'Socio Scientific Temper' for Management and Science students was organized in association with YWCA on 11th October 2019.
  • The BBA Dept. organized a webinar on 'Managing Stress during the Covid 19 Pandemic' on 18th of July 2020. Mrs. Hifsa Hashmath , Assistant Professor , Dept. of Commerce , St. Anne's Degree College For Women was the resource speaker.
  • The department of Psychology organised an International Webinar on the 4th July 2020 on the topic ' Rewiring the mind by building resilience and post traumatic growth at the time of our biggest life challenge'. The resource speakers were Ms. Lubin Lukas from Canada and Mrs. Swarnalatha Iyer ,MD and CEO of Seshan's Academy Infinity
  • The Dept. of Commerce organized a guest lecture on ' GST' on the 2Oth February 2020.The resource speaker was Prof. Murthy , Vice Principal ,NMKRV College , Bangalore.
  • .The Dept. of Kannada organized a lecture on the topic 'Basavannavara Sahitya' on the 1ST of October 2019. The speaker was Dr. Sheela Malimat , Prof. BMS College for Women, Basavangudi.
  • . The dept. of Urdu organized a lecture on the topic ' Afsna Nigari' in Urdu Literature. Dr. Muhammed , Prof. in Urdu, Home Science College was the speaker.

  • NSS and Civil Defence:

  • To inculcate social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias, the NSS & Civil Defence wing of the college headed by Dr.Gayathri, functioned in full swing organizing various activities namely Blood Donation, self-defence classes, camps, rallies and workshops.. Given below are a gist of the activities organized.
  • A debate on GST was conducted with the main objective of creating awareness on sales tax.
  • A Paper bag making workshop was organised by Youth for Seva organisation.
  • A talk on 'Thoughts of Gandhi' by Adeeba Begum from Gandhi Vichara Simithi was organised.
  • An awareness programme on HIV and AIDS and also menstrual hygiene was conducted. Dr.Shilpashree from Ambedkar Medical college was the resource speaker.
  • Dr. Rama Dev, Gynaecologist from Vikram Hospital came to our college to give awareness on Health issues of Women.
  • Jeevarakshaka blood bank was invited to conduct a Free Blood donation camp wherein 38 students donated blood. Dr. Agarwal eye hospital was invited to conduct Free Eye check up camp for all our students.
  • NSS Unit organised programmes like Swachhbharath Abhiyaan. NSS Students also performed a skit on 'Waste Management' and were awarded Ist Prize at the University Level..
  • The Red Ribbon Club a part of the NSS Unit was recognized as one of the best units in spreading AIDS Awareness in Karnataka by MHRD Central Government of India.
  • During the Covid 19 pandemic , the NSS & Civil Defence Students served as frontline warriors' by distributing food, lending a helping hand in assisting covid patients & vaccination drives etc.

    Placement Cell;

  • Trident Corporation organised a placement drive on the 12th of April 2019 in the College campus. Reputed companies such as Vantage Agora, Greet Technologies, HP, Axis Bank, KNAB Finance advisors pvt ltd. , Omega, Infosys, Digital Academy 360, EVST, Red bus, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Grassroots, Wipro, Jet King, Flight Edge etc visited the campus. Many final year students were selected after going through an aptitude test, group discussion and Final Interview . Many of our students have been placed in reputed companies both on campus and off campus.

    Student Acheivements;

  • Ms. Meenakshi.M of II BCA participated in the marathon held in St. Joseph's College , Sarjapur on 23rd February 2020. The main cause behind this marathon was 'Run For Water'. She participated in the 2km running and secured the first place. She also participated in a marathon held in Sarjapur Decathlon, The marathon was organised by Brindavan Sports . The main cause of this marathon was 'Run for Green' She took part in the 3km running and secured first place. She completed the marathon in 18 minutes & 59 seconds.
  • NSS Students performed a skit on 'Waste Management' and were awarded I Prize at the University Level.

In conclusion the IQAC strives at having many more similar programmes aimed at the development and up gradation of both staff & students alike.

IQAC Report -2020-2021

Amidst the times of pandemic IQAC was keen in supporting the quality of education to support the virtual mode of teaching. The committee planned for virtual Workshops, Guest Lectures and National, International Webinars. The effectiveness of virtual education was well utilized during this pandemic that replaced some of the disadvantages of the physical classroom teaching. The committee planned the required and relevant sessions for both the students and the faculty to cope up with the unprecedented times.

Give below are a gist of the workshops, seminars, guest lectures and webinars organized.

  • The department of English organized a faculty development programme on 'Orientation on Organizing a Webinar' on 2nd July 2020 and an International webinar on 16th July 2021 on the topic 'Digital Addiction'.
  • The department of Management organized a faculty development programme on 'Skill Development training on Virtual Classes' on 21st July 2020. The department also organized a 3day workshop for students on 'Diversity and Composite Culture' from the 30th of November to 2nd December 2020.
  • The department of Psychology organised an International Webinar on the 4th July 2020 on the topic 'Rewiring the mind by building resilience and post traumatic growth at the time of our biggest life challenge'.
  • The department of Economics organized an International webinar on 31st July 2021 on the topic 'Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Economic Growth'.
  • The department of Computer Applications organised a 2hour Hands-on Workshop on 'Python & Project 'on 30th June 2021 in association with Alpha Tech Academy.

To be updated with the changing facets of education, many of the staff members actively participated, presented and published research papers in State, National and International Seminars.

  • Mrs. Sadia Tarannum, Head of the department of Management published 2 papers one on 'Digital Marketing 'in the International Journal of Research and Analytical Reviews and another paper on 'Virtual Teaching & Learning in Pandemic in 2020' in the 'Journal of Education': Rabindrabharti University.
  • Dr. M.S Gayathri Head of the department of Botany presented and published a paper on 'Evergreen Plants are the best option for Bangalore Roads' at a National Symposium organized by GFGC, Vijayanagar. She also presented a paper on 'Coastal Grasses of Andhra Pradesh' at a state level symposium at KLE Society, Bengaluru.
  • Mrs. Darly , Lecturer from the Dept. of Management published a paper on ' An Empirical study on Farmers' constraints in marketing to organized Retailers' in IOSR-JBM ( Journal of Business& Management).
  • Dr. Lydia Glory, Assistant Professor in the dept. of English received her PHD Degree in the year 2020-2021.

The IQAC ventures to propose several such programmes for students and faculty to enhance both offline and online teaching approaches.
